Darren Fletcher has disappeared off the map since being struck down by a virus the best part of 2 months ago. He made his re-appearance last night against the Arsenal reserves in a stalemate 0-0 draw at Old Trafford. How was he looking?

Darren looked like the intensity in his game wasn't all that was it before. Sure, this may have had something to do with the fact that he has been out for the best part of 2 months and that he was playing a reserves game in front of a miniature crowd. Let's hope this was the reason. Over the past couple of seasons Fletcher has cemented himself as a member of the starting XI when he is fit. Although Carrick's recent run of good form in the past few games has filled in some of the gaps that the missing Fletcher left behind, we will be needing Fletcher to be back to his best form.

Who knows what would of happened if the referee never sent Darren off after this fantastic tackle on Fabregas? In the final, our midfield was uncharacteristically weak with Anderson putting in a shadow of a performance which let the Barcelona midfield run wild. It was such a shame as Fletcher had found the form of this life in this Champions League campaign and was integral to our successes. I am looking forward to Darren finding his fitness back over the Summer as that box-to-box midfielder has been missing from our midfield since he fell ill. Good luck Darren!
