When Valencia pulled up only five minutes in to his cameo at Ajax last week, all fans thought the worst. Was our most in form player out for the rest of the season? After the match it was confirmed that Valencia would be out for four weeks but fast forward to a statement today and good news has come over the horizon.

SAF has confirmed that Valencia is looking to return far sooner than first anticipated when speaking to the press today:

“It’s not a particularly serious injury and he should be back in a week or so.”

Considering the form that Nani and Young showed on their return from injuries, the return of Valencia is going to be paramount if United are going to possess a genuine threat from the wide positions. Nobody in the team can match the energy and strength combination that Tony provides which United have heavily relied on in the past few months.

The game against Tottenham next week is a massive fixture in the chase. If we can win the game, then we can potentially pull eight points ahead of Tottenham and put the onus purely on toppling City from the Premier League throne. A loss against Tottenham and everything is up for grabs.
