"To be able to be part of that is a huge honour and I can’t wait to get started. I hope I can be part of many successful years with United.” Angelo Henriquez
Manchester United have now officially signed 18-year-old Angelo Henriquez after completing the necessary paperwork in a deal estimated to be worth £3.5 million.
The move is United's fifth signing of a busy transfer window as Sir Alex looks to rebuild a squad to challenge City to the title once again. It has been confirmed that Henriquez will wear the number 21 shirt at United this season.
The highly rated 18-year-old striker from Universidad de Chile previously came over for a trial at United and after agreeing a preferred bidder option, the club have decided to take it up this summer.
He has made it clear that he wants to play first team football for United and with Rooney on the sidelines for four weeks, he may get an opportunity to do so if he can impress but with Robin van Persie, Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck all vying for a starting spot as well, competition will be fierce.
Speaking about the youngster to Manutd.com, Sir Alex praised his quick progression as a player.
He said: "Angelo has made a tremendous impact on the game in his short career so far. His pace is a great asset and he reads the game really well for someone of such a young age.
"We have a proud record of developing young talent and Angelo fits the profile of a United player – skilful, attacking and someone who plays the game with real flair."
Angelo Henriquez made his Chilean league debut this year and scored ten goals in 15 games. He added another four in the South American version of the Champions League, the Libertadores Cup. The last unknown South American striker to join United didn't do too badly for himself, so hopefully we have unearthed another gem in Henriquez.
