Manchester United and Arsenal are leading the chase for the signature of highly rated dutch midfielder Kevin Strootman according to sources close to PSV.
Dutch midfielder Kevin Strootman has been open with his desires to play football at the top level in Europe and new reports suggest he looks set to leave PSV Eindhoven this season.
The PSV source said: “It looks certain that he will leave in January. The only question is where?
“It looks like Manchester United or Arsenal — they are both very keen.”
The highly rated 22-year-old has been dubbed ‘the new Van Bommel’ by those who have watched his box-to-box style of play.
Martin Ferguson, Manchester United’s chief scout, has been to watch Strootman play and he could bring a new dynamic to Manchester United’s midfield that hasn’t existed ever since Roy Keane departed in 2005. One of Keane’s best attributes was his ability to lead by example and strive to be better and at just 22, Stootman has already captained his club and country – a real indication of his presence in the squad.
