On Saturday, Manchester United will play their second friendly of the pre-season against the Australian A-League All Stars at the Anz Stadium in Sydney.
David Moyes’ men will be looking to make up for their 1-0 loss to Singha All Stars in Bangkok last weekend and record a first win for their new manager.
The A-League All Stars are made up of 20 players who have been selected following a process that included votes cast by fans, coaches and influential figures within the Australian game.
Sadly, Italian legend Alessandro Del Piero and ex England international Emile Heskey are both unavailable for the tie but United fans will recognise a couple of All Star players in ex-United midfielder Liam Miller and Brett Emerton, who spent the majority of his career at Blackburn Rovers.
United fielded a fairly mixed team in the defeat against the Singha All stars with Moyes making the most out of his squad, giving starts to reserve goalkeeper Ben Amos and Belgian starlet Adnan Januzaj.
Both youngsters impressed and will surely feature again during pre-season but they are unlikely to start on Saturday as Moyes has stated he ”wants to put on a show” and is expected to field a strong starting line up.
All-Stars coach Ange Postecoglou is looking forward to the challenge of facing United and speaking about the clash, he said: “It’s an opportunity to measure yourself against the best.”
“It’s got all the things I look for in my job. It’s a challenge and I love that. I coach best when it’s like that, I get more excited.”
As it is a friendly match, it is almost impossible to predict the starting line up but I will have a go anyway and if you want to try yourself then go ahead and use the comments box under this article. Let’s see who guesses correctly.
