David De Gea believes that Cesc Fabregas would be a very good signing for Manchester United but knows that ultimately the decision will be up to him.
Barcelona have already rejected two offers from United but with a club record bid for Fabregas believed to be going in as a third and final offer, the possibility of him switching the Nou Camp for Old Trafford is still there.
“He will have to make the decision as to whether he wants to stay (at Barcelona) or join us,” De Gea said about Fabregas’ move to United.
“It would be a very good signing and he would help us to improve greatly.”
It isn’t the first time that big Dave has tried to woo a Spaniard to Old Trafford. De Gea admitted he tried to convince Thiago Alcantara to join United while the pair were out on U21s duty with Spain.
“Yes, I tried to convince him but I wasn’t able to. He would have been a great signing. He opted for Bayern, a very good club, and I am sure that he will do very well there.”
I agree with De Gea in that Fabregas would definitely be a great signing for the club but as much as I want him to join United, I don’t want us to resort to Mourinho style tactics.
If he wants to join, he will and if he doesn’t, he won’t. No United player will be influential enough to make him change his mind so there is no point stooping to Mourinho’s level.
