Manchester United well represented in latest England squad

Manchester United have once again been strongly represented in Roy Hodgson’s latest England squad.

Hodgson has made no surprise selections from United including Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Michael Carrick, Tom Cleverley, Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck and Ashley Young in the team which is set to face Moldova and Ukraine at the start of next month.

The team is currently second in their World Cup qualifying group, just two points behind Montenegro but England have a game in hand over the Yugoslavian outfit.

However, Wilfred Zaha has being dropped to the countries U21s side after his move to United eight months ago. Although Hodgson has vowed to give the U21s players the chances they deserve to get back into the senior side.

“I hope they don’t see it as moving up and down,” he said.

“I’d like these players to consider themselves as U21s and every now and again get a chance to come in and impress enough that they can hopefully stay there.”

Former United target Ross Barkley is one of the surprise packages in the squad along with Tottenham winger Andros Townsend.
