Ian Holloway has heaped praise on Wilfried Zaha ahead of Crystal Palace’s clash with Manchester United this weekend.
The 20-year-old spearheaded Palace’s play-off success last year and Holloway admitted that he was proud of watching him grow into the player he is today.
Zaha is yet to play under David Moyes but Holloway is confident that the Scot will introduce him to the team at the right time, not that it stopped him from trying to sign him on a loan deal on deadline day.
“I found myself giggling when Wilf did some of the things he did on the pitch.”
“Zaha has left a great legacy here and one that will be very had to replicate, not many players have a song like he has,” Holloway told reporters in his pre-match press conference.
“I found myself giggling when Wilf did some of the things he did on the pitch. He will find his way. If there is a better club for him to go to I would like someone to show me. I am delighted for him. I am so proud of him.
“Zaha took us to a level with Glenn Murray which we may not have got to if he wasn’t there. The boy is a joy to know.
“I have asked about a loan for Wilf but David will select him at the right time. Wilf with us could turn a game by himself. But now he has to realise that he part of a bigger team now.
“People said his heart wasn’t with us but he gave everything. What more does that boy need to do if he isn’t a legend here already.”
Everyone attached to Crystal Palace says nothing but great things about Zaha’s attitude towards the club he had spent his whole career at prior to his move to Old Trafford, and United fans can’t wait to see him in action after his fantastic pre-season.
On paper, a home game against his old club sounds like the perfect way for Moyes to introduce Zaha to the Premier League so it might not be long before we finally get a chance to see what Zaha can do on the biggest stage.
