WEAR THE MOMENT: Owen vs Manchester City, Sep 2009

Manchester United 4-3 Manchester City, 20 September 2009

In one of the most memorable Manchester derbies in history, Michael Owen’s 96th minute winner sent Old Trafford absolutely wild.

When a Rio Ferdinand error allowed Craig Bellamy through to equalise in the 90th minute, it seemed like United had thrown away a memorable derby day victory at Old Trafford.

But United didn’t lay down. In Fergie time, Giggs’ inch perfect pass got Owen through one-on-one with Shay Given and he made absolutely no mistake as he stroked the ball into the net.

Ferguson pumped the air. Fans went wild. Players looked possessed.

He may not have scored many United goals but this one from Owen will always be remembered as one of the best moments against Manchester City.
