Patrice Evra has voiced his regret at Manchester United’s decision to not hold onto Paul Pogba.
The 20-year-old has gone on to become one of Europe’s most coveted youngsters after a fantastic debut season with Juventus that culminated in the Serie A title.
Pogba has also broken into the French national team and Evra admitted that a player of his talent and ability was a massive loss to United.
“His [Pogba’s] talent on the pitch, his aggression, his presence, is very rare,” Evra told TF1.
“He very quickly earned the respect of players like Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes.
“It’s true that have you have to win over the manager too, but to have won the dressing room like he did [was impressive].
“It was truly a huge loss when he left the club.”
Evra, unfortunately, speaks the truth. Right now, a player of Pogba’s ilk and talent would walk right into United’s midfield. In a few years, he could even be one of the world’s best midfielders if he continues to progress at his current rate.
United now have to focus on getting Adnan Januzaj to sign a new contract and avoid a similar situation to Pogba’s arising once again. To lose Pogba was painful but to lose Januzaj as well would be dreadful.
