THE WAIT IS OVER. Adnan Januzaj has today signed a new five-year contract at Manchester United.
The past month has been a hectic one for the 18-year-old with rumours circulating throughout the press that he was set to seek a move away from Old Trafford.
But today, the rumours have been quashed. It is not yet known how much the deal is worth but it is understood to be over double what his last contract was worth.
Januzaj burst on to the scene earlier this month with a match winning performance against Sunderland.
But the news would come as no surprise to fans who follow the academy sides and the Under 21s team with Adnan being a constant stand out performer over the past couple of years.
My sources close to Adnan have told me that Januzaj’s agent, Dirk Devriese, flew to Manchester on Thursday to finalise negotiations with the club and the contract was signed at 10pm last night (Friday 18th October).
Januzaj told manutd.com: “It’s a great thrill to be able to sign for Manchester United. Since arriving here I have always felt like this was the right club for me.
“This season has been great for me. Going on the pre season tour, making my debut in the Community Shield win at Wembley and then breaking into the team at Sunderland – it’s like a dream.”
