David de Gea has admitted he will be delighted to reach 100 appearances for Manchester United but insisted it is only the beginning of his career at Old Trafford.

The 23-year-old has been in brilliant form once again this year to continue where he left off in the last campaign and the Spaniard is now the undisputed No. 1 at United.

Many see De Gea moving back to his native Spain as an inevitability in the future but speaking to Inside United, he made it clear that he wants to reach much bigger milestones than 100 appearances with United.

“I’m very happy with it,” De Gea said about his current vein of form.

“I feel like this is a particularly good moment in my career right now and I hope to continue in the same vein. I feel like I’m always improving and I want to make sure that continues.”

“One hundred [appearances], eh? Wow!

“I’ll be delighted to reach that figure. It makes me very happy and I want to make it to 200 and then 300 appearances. Please, let it continue!”

Over the years, Sir Alex Ferguson had some real gaffs when he tried to replace Peter Schmeichel but as any great manager does, he learned from his mistakes when he replaced Edwin van der Sar.

In De Gea, he has set United up for what could be the next two decades if he does stay at Old Trafford for his whole career and judging by how well he is doing right now, it doesn’t sound like he has any intention of leaving in the near future.
