Charni Ekangamene (Carlisle United) – Ekangamene played 89 minutes on his debut for Carlisle United. Given the last minute nature of the deal, Charni hadn’t trained with his new teammates prior to getting on the bus for their match against Bristol City. Nonetheless, he put in a solid performance. He played in a midfield diamond and was versatile enough to alternate his position with Brad Potts throughout the match. He was involved in Carlisle’s goal as it was him who was cynically brought down. Potts scored from the resulting free-kick.
Sam Byrne (Carlisle United) – Byrne started on the bench for Carlisle. As with Ekangamene, he didn’t train with the Cumbrians prior to travelling with the squad. He was brought on in the 77th minute as Carlisle were trailing 2-1 and didn’t have much time to get into the match particularly since Carlisle were chasing the game.
Jack Rudge (Torquay United) – Rudge’s loan deal wasn’t completed in time for him to be included in Torquay’s squad for their win away at Portsmouth.
Anderson (Fiorentina) – Anderson started for Fiorentina as they took on Cagliari away from home. He played on the left side of the midfield. He was substituted in the 54th minute as Fiorentina were trailing 1-0 to Cagliari as a result of a penalty.
Kieran O’Hara (Trafford) – O’Hara played the full match for Trafford as they took on Grantham Town. It was a busy afternoon for O’Hara as Grantham dominated from the start. After just three, minutes Gary King fired in a pile-driver and O’Hara did brilliantly to tip the shot over the bar. O’Hara was the only keeper who made saves in the first half. He was beaten in the 62nd minute when Paul Lister headed in from close range after a corner. Minutes later, O’Hara made another fantastic save from a King free-kick. Soon after, Trafford equalised against the run off play and they scored a late goal to secure all three points in a 2-1 victory.
Marnick Vermijl (NEC Nijmegen) – Vermijl played the full match as NEC drew 1-1 with Go Ahead Eagles. He came close to adding to his impressive goal tally but was unfortunate to be denied by the woodwork. That draw keeps NEC off the bottom of the Eredivise.
Angelo Henriquez (Real Zaragoza) – Henriquez was an unused substitute in Real Zaragoza’s 2-0 defeat to Barcelona’s B team.
Tom Lawrence (Yeovil Town) – Lawrence started on the bench for Yeovil Town as they took on Nottingham Forest. He came on in the 40th minute to replace the injured Joe Ralls. Lawrence had a couple of shots but they drifted either high or wide. Forest dominated and went on to win 3-1.
