David Moyes confirms Nemanja Vidic will continue as Manchester United captain

Nemanja Vidic will remain as Manchester United’s captain for the rest of the season, David Moyes has told reporters at his West Brom pre-match press conference.

This week, Inter Milan confirmed that Vidic will join them in the summer on a free transfer and there have been calls for Moyes to replace Vidic as captain immediately with a view to building a new United.

However, Moyes has no intention of taking the armband away from Vidic wants to keep him as captain until he leaves the club.

For me, Moyes should name his new captain straight away. What is the point of waiting until the end of the season to announce it? It means that United are now being led by a captain who won’t be a United player in less than three months, that’s not right.

Vidic has been a stalwart for United now for eight years but like so many other United players, just hasn’t played with the same commitment he has done over the years. Is it because he is just playing out the games until he leaves? Potentially.
