Manchester United get triple injury boost ahead of Liverpool on Sunday

David Moyes has confirmed that Rafael, Nani and Jonny Evans all trained this week and have a chance of featuring against Liverpool on Sunday.

Both Rafael and Nani were pictured in training yesterday and although there was no sign of Evans, Moyes remains hopeful he will be ready for the game this weekend.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Moyes said: “Nani is back. He had a really bad hamstring injury. But he is back and has trained. Hopefully we get him up to speed very quickly. Rafael, Javier Hernandez and Jonny Evans are all coming along. They all have a chance of playing on Sunday.”.

Rafael was taken off against West Brom as a precaution for an ankle injury he sustained and by the sounds of it, that precaution has paid off.

As for Nani, he has been completely out of action over three months and it will be a welcome return for him to be involved in the match day squad again.

The news about Evans is a also real boost as well because this season, he has been our best centre back. Up against an agile and nimble Liverpool attack, we need to avoid playing Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand, something that Moyes is going to do by the sounds of it.

Moyes hinted that Chris Smalling and Phil Jones will continue at centre back after their impressive performance against West Brom and also pointed towards using Ferdinand and Vidic at the right points for the rest of the season.

He added: “I’m pleased with the young boys. We’ve had great service from Rio and Vida and we’re using them because we need their experience. With the amount of games we have coming up we’re going to need them to be fit and healthy.”
