Loan Round Up: Frustration for Powell, Lingard and Anderson injured

Sam Johnstone (Doncaster Rovers) – Johnstone played the full match as Doncaster suffered a 2-0 defeat against Burnley. He was well worked in the first half but made save after save to keep things at level pegging heading into the second half. Unfortunately, Coppinger didn’t help Johnstone out by conceding a penalty early in the second half. In the 76th minute Burnley got their second.

Tom Lawrence (Yeovil Town) – Lawrence played 90 minutes in Yeovil’s 1-1 draw with table-toppers Leicester. It was his neat control and quick feet that drew the foul in the 22nd minute which led to Yeovil’s goal. He was brought down 25 yards out and Ralls scored direct from the free-kick. It was yet another good performance from Lawrence and he was subbed off in the 90th minute.

Tyler Blackett (Birmingham City) – Blackett played the full match in Birmingham’s 3-2 win over Millwall. He provided the assist for Birmingham’s second goal with a precise cross. It was a better performance from Blackett who seems to be improving  with every game.

Federico Macheda (Birmingham City) – Kiko was an unused substitute in Birmingham’s 3-2 win over Millwall.

Nick Powell (Wigan Athletic) – Powell played the full match as Wigan lost 1-0 to QPR. Powell was involved in the majority of Wigan’s good attacking play but Rob Green proved to be unbreachable. Powell wriggled past the QPR defence before the ball fell to James Perch only for Green to block. Powell tested Green from 25 yards but his effort was palmed to safety. Powell then set up James McClean but Green was again in the way. Powell was also sent clear only for Nedum Onohua to take the ball off him with a last ditch interception.

Will Keane (Queen’s Park Rangers)Will Keane was an unused substitute in QPR’s 1-0 win over Wigan Athletic.

Jesse Lingard (Brighton & Hove Albion) – Lingard played the full match in Brighton’s 1-0 loss to Sheffield Wednesday. He played a lone striker role. It didn’t really suit him and it wasn’t his best game for Brighton.

Michael Keane (Blackburn Rovers) – Michael played the full match in Blackburn’s 3-3 draw with Watford. There were numerous mistakes at the back for each of the goals that Blackburn conceded but Michael wasn’t the one making them, which is a good sign.

Sam Byrne (Carlisle United) – Byrne came on in the 72nd minute as Carlisle looked to snatch all three points against Shrewsbury Town. While Byrne’s introduction coincided with greatest pressure from Carlisle, he didn’t get a clear cut chance and the match ended in a goalless draw.

Jack Barmby (Hartlepool United) – Barmby played the full match as Hartlepool lost 4-2 to Mansfield Town. Hartlepool shipped a goal in the 20th minute but were back on level terms eight minutes after great work from Barmby. He forced his way across the area and created space which allowed Compton and James to combine to set up Marlon Harewood. However, Hartepool were defensively poor let in another three goals while only managing to score another one themselves.

Jonny Sutherland (Stafford Rangers) – Sutherland played the full match in Stafford Rangers 3-2 defeat to Grantham. Rangers took the lead but Grantham equalised in the 27th minute as Hempenstall held off the challenges of two Rangers defenders before rounding Sutherland. Rangers re-took the lead but sloppy defending allowed Grantham another equaliser, as Michael Jacklin was left unmarked at he back post to head in from a corner. However, Sutherland was beaten for a third time as Lister headed home a late goal to secure the win from Grantham.

Anderson (Fiorentina) – Anderson wasn’t involved in Fiorentina’s 2-0 defeat to AC Milan because he was injured.
