Moyes insists every player he’s talked to wants to join Manchester United

David Moyes has boldly claimed for the second time this season that all the players he has talked to about joining Manchester United in the summer are ‘really keen’ to make the move to Old Trafford.

This summer will more than likely be one of the busiest in Manchester United’s history with an expected swathe of incoming and outgoing transfers where the manager will begin to build a team he feels can take the club forward in the future.

As Manchester United are not going to be in the Champions League, our ability to lure the best players has been questioned but Moyes has remained adamant that it won’t be effected.

“When I came in I knew exactly what the task was going to be. We have to build a team here,” Moyes said to BT Sport after the Aston Villa game.

“I’ve already got a very good team, I took over the champions from Sir Alex, it’s a great team.

“But now there’s time where we have to try and add to that. We’re looking to add to it.

“All the players that I seem to talk to are really keen to join Manchester United, so let’s hope that comes to fruition in the summer time.”

Back towards the end of February, Moyes said a very similar thing: “All the top players want to play for Manchester United.

“I can’t tell you the amount of phone calls I’ve had from top players around the world who want to play for Manchester United.”

Call it naivety, ignorance or confidence but Moyes has taken a very bullish approach to United being able to sign the right players this summer but it does beg the question – what players has Moyes been talking to?
