Juan Mata has hailed Manchester United’s performance against Newcastle United in the 4-0 win today and thanked travelling fans for their support.
Today was Mata’s best individual performance in a United shirt.
He scored two goals and got an assist which takes his total to three goals and four assists in 11 appearances, which is by no means a poor return for a player settling into a new club.
Newcastle may have been poor on the day but it doesn’t take away from how well Mata played. He was the architect of United’s liquid football and in his natural No. 10 role, he flourished once again.

David Moyes might have been building his team around Wayne Rooney all season but the game against Newcastle showed what could happen if he decided that Mata was the man who he wanted to have as his focal point next season.
