David Moyes confirms Ashley Young has torn ligaments in his hand

David Moyes has confirmed that Ashley Young has torn ligaments in his hand and will be ruled out of action for the foreseeable future.

The 28-year-old had to leave the pitch after just 18 minutes after an innocuous looking fall but Manchester United’s medical staff have assessed it and it doesn’t look good for Young.

This season, he hasn’t had the best of luck staying fit and this is the latest in a string of injuries the winger has suffered.

However, Manchester United actually benefited after his withdrawal as Adnan Januzaj contributed to our fantastic second half performance alongside Shinji Kagawa and Juan Mata.

Young has been pretty atrocious on the whole for Manchester United this season and the occasional decent performance doesn’t gloss over that fact.

Given the form he has been in this year, it would be a surprise if Young was taken to the World Cup and this latest injury setback will probably rule him out for the majority of the season as well.
