Van Gaal comments on United job and believes he’s the right manager

Louis van Gaal has denied that he has met Manchester United officials to discuss becoming the new manager but insisted his age would not stop him from being the right candidate for the job.

The 62-year-old Dutchman is the odds on favourite to take on the position after Ryan Giggs’ four games in charge as interim manager and reports from Holland’s De Telegraaf said a deal had already been agreed.

However, Van Gaal has denied that any such agreement was already in place.

“No, I didn’t meet them, he told The Sun out in Portugal.

Despite that, Van Gaal was confident that his age was irrelevant because his trophy laden CV that includes European Cup triumphs and titles in Spain, Holland and Germany, more than shows he is the right man for the job.

He added: “Am I young enough for the job — I think you can see that in my CV.”

You just know that Giggs is going to have a storming end to the season but Manchester United need to put mind over matter and take romanticism out of this decision. We can’t afford to put a man without experience, even our most decorated player ever, in charge of the club right now.

Van Gaal is the right man for the job with a proven history of winning everything that football has to offer and unless Manchester United want to take a huge gamble with Giggs, Van Gaal should be named manager.
