Mats Hummels has sung the praises of Shinji Kagawa and admits Borussia Dortmund would love to sign him back this summer.
The 25-year-old has eased into his Manchester United career very slowly but has come out of his shell in the past few months with his best run of consistently impressive performances.
Up until that point, it seemed likely Kagawa would leave Manchester United in the summer but David Moyes’ departure increases his chances of staying.
Despite that, Hummels has made it clear Dortmund want him back and hailed the football they could play with Kagawa back in their side.
“Of course we’d love to have Kagawa back,” he said.
“An attacking midfield with Reus, Mkhitaryan and Shinji would have style.”
Jurgen Klopp would certainly agree with Hummels as Dortmund’s manager has been wooing Kagawa to come back ever since he left Germany for England, but how likely is it that Kagawa would leave?
It all depends on Manchester United’s new boss and his plans but the blossoming partnership of Kagawa and Mata should be enough to convince any manager that the style of football those two play together is what we should aspire to achieve every week.
Of course, there’s every chance that Kagawa would yearn for a return and even though fans have warmed to him, he may well choose to return to Dortmund this summer.
