Report – Manchester United considering Van Gaal alternatives despite positive talks

Louis van Gaal is widely expected to become Manchester United’s new manager but the club is looking at alternatives despite positive talks with the Dutchman, according to Sky Sports News.

It would be extremely naive of Manchester United to not be looking at alternatives as it would leave all of our eggs in one basket, much like we did with David Moyes, but who else could United be looking at?

Jurgen Klopp and Jose Mourinho have both categorically ruled themselves out of the running while Carlo Ancelotti has also insisted he is happy at Real Madrid. Such points of view shouldn’t stop Manchester United at least considering those three, to not do so would be foolish, but it makes any negotiation process more difficult

Alternatively, there are still a few top class managers such as Juventus’ Antonio Conte and Atletico Madrid’s Diego Simeone.

Of course, one managerial alternative is much closer to home – Ryan Giggs. He doesn’t have the experience but he has everything else in abundance and nobody would know the club better than him but it would be a case of heart over head if we appointed him, which could backfire horribly if it is too early for him to take on the role.

As it stands, Van Gaal is by far and away the favourite to become our new manager and there’s not really many reasons to suggest something will stop it from happening unless the board don’t think he is the right man.

Suggestions from Holland report that Van Gaal wants a deal to be concluded this week so while speculation is currently at fever pitch with regards to who United’s new manager is going to be, it might soon be revealed.
