Shinji Kagawa was always going to be linked with a move back to Borussia Dortmund this summer, much like he was last year, and Mats Hummels has begun the charm offensive.
Dortmund’s attempts to lure Kagawa back to Germany last season proved futile but it clearly hasn’t stopped them from doing the same thing again this year as Hummels hailed Kagawa and insisted Dortmund would play a lovely style of football with him back in their side.
Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp has, on numerous occasions, commented on his pain in seeing Kagawa being played out of position and this summer, Dortmund will want to sign Kagawa back once again.
Since he left two years ago, Dortmund have been on a steady decline and with Robert Lewandowski leaving in the summer on a free, they want to vastly improve their squad and bringing Kagawa back would be a good start.
While Kagawa resisted the temptation last year, this season has hardly gone to plan and Kagawa would have had every right to be disillusioned with his position at Manchester United on occasions.
However, does that mean he’ll want to leave Old Trafford? Kagawa has shown in his past few appearances how impressive he can be alongside Juan Mata but even if United have no plan to sell him, speculation linking him with a move away will continue all summer.
