Rio Ferdinand has emerged as a shock target for Arsenal this summer, according to The Mirror.
The 35-year-old has insisted he wants to remain at Old Trafford beyond this summer and Ryan Giggs has backed both Ferdinand and Evra to get new deals with the club, despite some of their abject performances this season.
Ferdinand was one of Moyes’ go to guys at the start of the season. He played almost every game up until we got past our tough start to the year and since then, he has hardly played at all, something which irked him enough to speak to the press about it.
Last year, Ferdinand deservedly won a place in the PFA Team of the Year. This time around, he was the polar opposite.
On the pitch like most other senior players, Ferdinand hasn’t done enough to make sure the team is playing at 100% every game and hasn’t led by example.
Now is time to look to the future and thank those who have served us well, such as Ferdinand.
