Tom Lawrence is set to be called up to the Wales senior squad for the first time, according to the BBC.
The 20-year-old hasn’t made his full Wales debut yet but been capped at Under-17s, 19s and 21s level and this is the next step in his progression.
It’s a great step for Lawrence that he is going to get his chance with the full Wales squad and if he impresses well enough, he could be part of the smaller squad that is set to face Holland in a friendly on 4 June.
If Lawrence did manage to make that squad, he’d be given a fantastic opportunity to impress Louis van Gaal.
Lawrence has had a whirlwind week after coming back to Manchester United from his successful loan period at Yeovil Town before going on to make his senior debut against Hull, and he is also set to be rewarded with a new contract.
The promotion of youth has always been the backbone of United’s success over the years and long may it continue with the likes of Lawrence, Wilson and Januzaj.
