Manchester United’s move for Atletico Madrid’s Koke is gathering some pace this week and The Independent are now reporting that Louis van Gaal has identified Koke as a midfielder he wants to bring to Old Trafford.
The 22-year-old has reiterated on more than one occasion that he is happy at Atletico but as is the case with release clauses, United would be free to approach Koke if we were prepared to pay £48m which reports are suggesting could be the case.
The Independent are saying that United will initially offer Koke £60,000 a week in order to move but that figure seems very unrealistic as Koke is probably already on a similar wage and it would be strange for United to offer what would be our new record signing around half of what Ashley Young currently earns. However, they do say that figure can increase if necessary.
That being said, Koke to United is a deal that is starting to gain momentum, much like Cesc Fabregas, and with the start of the World Cup only 11 days away, United are going to have to move fast if any deals are to be finalised before it begins.
