Despite having a prolific season for Barcelona in which he scored 19 goals, ten more than Neymar, Sanchez has been heavily linked with a move away from the Nou Camp to both Juventus and Manchester United.
Reports that United have already submitted a €25m bid for Sanchez surfaced last week and although there has been no confirmation of that, him being a target for Van Gaal would be a good enough start.
There’s no two ways about it – Sanchez is a player who would bring a lot to United that our current crop of wingers seem to have lost the ability to do.
Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young should be sold as soon as possible while Nani has been hampered by injuries for the last two years. Shinji Kagawa and Juan Mata aren’t natural widemen which only leaves Adnan Januzaj who, despite being so impressive, isn’t enough.
An injection of a confident, goalscoring winger like Sanchez would transform the squad and for Van Gaal, who traditionally loves to play 4-3-3, it would give him the fast wideman he’d want in the squad.
After the season Sanchez had, Barcelona would be foolish to let him leave but under new boss Luis Enrique, only a few players are guaranteed a spot in his squad next year so anything can happen.
