Bebe and Anderson’s departure from Manchester United this summer has been on the cards for a long time and Louis van Gaal‘s decision to not include them in the US Tour squad means their exits are likely to come sooner rather than later.
It was hoped that Fiorentina would make their loan signing of Anderson a permanent deal but the Serie A side decided not to follow through on the opportunity due to his valuation.
As for Bebe, he has been closing in on a move to Portuguese champions Benfica for a couple of weeks now and his absence from the tour means he should be able to finalise that deal soon enough.
For Anderson, it would call time on a seven year career at United that has only seen him play just over 100 games and the time was definitely right for him to leave. Reports suggest Anderson has not been included on tour because of a calf injury but even if he was fully fit, his inclusion was uncertain.
With Bebe, his career never even got started and with so many strikers in the squad, there was no chance he’d break through despite his positive loan spell last season.
Louis van Gaal clearing out the deadwood in the squad was just as important as bringing in new players, so selling Bebe and Anderson is the perfect start.
