Fans who are trying to purchase Adnan Januzaj‘s shirt from the Manchester United mega-store are being advised not to have No.44, his current squad number, printed on the back of it ahead of potential changes this season.
There are a host of prominent United shirt numbers free this season including No.7 and the No.11 shirt that has become free for the first time in nearly three decades following the retirement of Ryan Giggs.
Will Januzaj be United’s new No.11? There’s every chance Louis van Gaal will give it to the 19-year-old and Giggs is keen for the shirt to not be retired in his name.
Speaking on the topic, he said: “No. There are obviously special cases but it just depends on the club really. I don’t think it’s [right] for United where they constantly churn over great players.
“I haven’t thought about who will take over the number 11 shirt – that’s a good question.
“They’re under pressure, aren’t they?!. I look forward to seeing who takes it and wish them all the best.”
With the Swansea game happening on Saturday, it won’t be too long before the new numbers are released and we’ll find out who has been named United’s new No.11.
