Report – Five players told by Louis van Gaal they aren’t part of Manchester United’s future

Javier Hernandez, Marouane Fellaini, Nani, Anderson and Rafael have all been told by Louis van Gaal they’re not going to be part of his Manchester United squad, reports the Daily Mail.

Nani and Anderson are two players who almost every United fan is now eager to see the back of. Anderson has exhausted his chances at Old Trafford and has no place in Van Gaal’s squad and Nani has continued to under-perform since returning from injury, to the point where he is too far down the pecking order to justify how much he is earning at the club.

It’s no surprise to see Hernandez’s name included on this list either and unlike Anderson and Nani, there’ll be a long line of clubs eager to sign the Mexican because his form is temporary. He is still one of football’s best finishers inside the six yard box.

As for Fellaini, it wouldn’t surprise United fans to see him sold but in equal measure he could easily stay for another season if Van Gaal felt he could get more out of him than David Moyes did.

The surprise inclusion on the list is Rafael. The Brazilian may have regressed last year but in the 2012/13 season, he was United’s most improved player and became one of the best right-backs in the Premier League. It’s all the more surprising given that he’s United’s only natural right-back in the squad right now and his departure would surely be met by the arrival of another or the promotion of somebody such as Marnick Vermijl or Saidy Janko from the Under-21s.

This season, it was just as important that Van Gaal got rid of some players from the squad as it was for him to bring new ones in and with Alexander Buttner, Bebe, Patrice Evra, Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand already gone, the squad next season is shaping up to be a very different one from last year.
