Manchester United could sell six players by Monday – report

After Louis van Gaal became manager of Manchester United, he reiterated on more than one occasion that he would give his players the chance to prove themselves before he decided who he didn’t want in his squad.

Now, with less than 72 hours until the transfer window closes, United are set to have an unprecedented amount of movement. The Telegraph’s Mark Ogden says up to seven players could leave while Daily Mirror’s David McDonnell believes six could leave Old Trafford.

Such an amount of movement in a short space of time is going to be difficult to complete but there has already been a lot of movement with some players whose futures are in doubt.

Tom Cleverley has had an £8m bid from Aston Villa accepted by United according to reports, meaning he is all but sure to leave United. As for Shinji Kagawa, his agent was pictured in Germany on Friday amid rumours of a return to Borussia Dortmund.

Anderson will have no place in the squad this season but United are struggling to find a club who wants to sign the Brazilian midfielder. However, if one comes in before the transfer window, Anderson is all but guaranteed to leave.

Juventus and Valencia have already made bids for Javier Hernandez and as the Mexican would be fourth or even fifth choice striker at United, it’d be a surprise if he didn’t leave in this window. The same goes for Anders Lindegaard as he is a decent guy

However, most United fans want to see Danny Welbeck stay at the club but he won’t be happy at being third/fourth choice striker either, so could potentially be pushing the move himself in order to gain more experience.

United shouldn’t be faced with only a couple of days left in the transfer window with so much still to do. However, it’s the situation the club now finds itself in and Monday is likely to see a swathe of activity, both in and out.
