Arsenal deny Danny Welbeck medical and say no deal is in place

Danny Welbeck is undergoing a medical at Arsenal ahead of a move from Manchester United tonight, according to Sky Sports.

The 23-year-old was at Arsenal’s training Colney training ground with England earlier and reports suggest he wants a move to Arsenal rather than Tottenham Hotspur, having been linked to both London clubs.

At this stage there is no confirmation as to whether any deal would be a season long loan or a permanent deal.

Welbeck’s future was always in doubt after talks with Louis van Gaal made it clear to the striker he would be third choice behind Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie this season.

Welbeck’s future was plunged further into doubt thanks to the surprise loan move for Radamel Falcao that is expected to be completed this evening and Hernandez’s departure on loan to Real Madrid has clearly not changed anything for the United striker.

Update: Sky Sports have now completed backtracked on their original claims and report Arsenal are staunchly denying Welbeck has undergone a medical. The London club insist there is no deal in place to bring Welbeck to the Emirates.
