Tom Cleverley has had his loan move to Aston Villa approved by the Premier League.
It is believed that the season long move will have a January break clause should Manchester United wish to bring Cleverley back to Old Trafford.
Mark Ogden from The Telegraph is reporting that Aston Villa have the option to buy Cleverley for £7,5m in January if he were to impress on loan. However, as Cleverley’s contract with United expires in the summer, that seems unlikely.
For all parties, Cleverley’s loan deal is the right move. Louis van Gaal made it clear he didn’t want him in his squad and Cleverley would have warmed the bench if he were to remain at Old Trafford.
Last night, it looked like a loan move for Cleverley was not going to be completed in time but the paperwork for the move was given to the Premier League in time for approval to be given today.
Cleverley will have already played his last game for United if he remains at Villa all season and leaves on a free contract but as much as he wasn’t able to fulfil on his promise at Old Trafford, good luck to him at Villa.
