Manchester United midfielder Davide Petrucci has completed his move to Romanian side CFR Cluj.
As The Peoples Person reported earlier, Petrucci terminated his contract with United in order for him to leave the club on a free transfer and the 22-year-old has now been unveiled as Cluj’s new No.4
Petrucci was a surprise addition to United’s 25-man Premier League squad for the 2014/15 season by Louis van Gaal and his move away will more than likely come as a surprise to the Dutchman, given that he would likely not have included Petrucci in the squad if he knew he intended to terminate his contract.
A player who arrived from Roma as a fantastic midfield prospect, Petrucci’s career so far has been halted by a succession of injuries and loan spells which have never worked out for him.
However, at 22, Petrucci now has an opportunity to make a career elsewhere and like so many other youngsters have shown after leaving United, they can go on to have a lot of success at another club. Players like Danny Drinkwater and Magnus Wolff-Eikrem are examples of those who have enjoyed a good career after leaving United.
Good luck to Petrucci at Roma. We’ll be keeping an eye on him just to see how he gets on in Romania.
