Luke Shaw made his Old Trafford debut as a Manchester United player last night for the Under-21s in their 4-0 victory over Sunderland.
The 19-year-old didn’t feature in United’s game against QPR at the weekend and Louis van Gaal decided it was best he got some game time under his belt by playing with the Under-21s.
It was a decision which proved fruitful as Shaw enjoyed a good game in his first outing since injuring his hamstring.
Shaw enjoyed plenty of possession out on the left-wing, was involved in plenty of United’s attacking play and also managed to grab himself an assist.
Marcos Rojo may have put in a good performance against QPR but Shaw is considered United’s first-choice left-back when fit, so it was good to see him back in action even if it was only with the Under-21s.
Next up for Shaw is a fitness test on whether he will be fit to play against Leicester this weekend.
