Louis van Gaal has stayed true to his pledge so far of promoting youngsters into Manchester United’s first-team squad.
Yesterday, Paddy McNair and Tom Thorpe became the latest youngsters to be given a senior debut under Van Gaal and the list of academy players who have been involved in the match day experience has been fantastic.
Thorpe, McNair, Pereira, Vermijl, Janko, Wilson, Blackett and many more have all been involved and yesterday at Old Trafford, Josh Harrop was spotted sitting alongside Amos, Fellaini and Wilson.
The 19-year-old has enjoyed a great start to the season. Having enjoyed a strong full debut with United’s Under-21s, Harrop was called up to England’s Under-20s squad and such is his confidence after scoring his first goal for the Under-21s, Harrop has set himself a target of reaching double figures for the season.
In the space of a few months Harrop has gone from United’s Under-18s to being included in the match day experience of being a first-team player and although he may not be making his senior debut soon, it will fill him with confidence he can achieve that sooner rather than later.
