Wayne Rooney trains with first-team ahead of Manchester derby

Wayne Rooney looks in contention to play for Manchester United in the derby this weekend after taking part in training.

Reports of a foot injury circulated this week suggesting Rooney could miss the derby because of it but having joined up with the first-team, Rooney looks like he will be in contention to play.

Ander Herrera also trained with United but at this stage it isn’t known whether he has been able to overcome the fractured rib injury which forced him off against West Brom two weeks ago and meant he was unavailable for Chelsea last weekend.

However, there was no sign of Radamel Falcao raising concerns over whether he will be available for selection.

As for Manchester City, Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed David Silva is ruled out of the derby but expects Yaya Toure to be fit.
