Josh Doughty has officially completed a medical with Manchester United and will soon be unveiled by the club.
The former Real Salt Lake Academy 17-year-old midfielder is part of Canada’s U18s squad and will become the second youngster Louis van Gaal‘s scouting network has signed after Dutch defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah.
Speaking with O When The Yanks, Doughty confirmed he will go straight into United’s U21s squad and play under Warren Joyce: “I will be playing mainly with the United Under 21′s, however I might play with the Under 18′s to get back up to speed.”
The same article also gave an insight into what type of player Doughty is, saying: “The ’97 midfielder thrives in the center of the pitch, but can also play out-wide. Doughty was instrumental to the successes RSL’s U16 side has enjoyed over the last two seasons.”
