Manchester United are expecting to bring in at least two players in the January transfer window, ESPN reports.
United spent a record £150m during the summer bringing in six players including club record signing Angel di Maria but after having so many defensive issues this season thanks to continuous injury problems, Louis van Gaal is expected to bring in reinforcements.
In his report, Delaney states: “It is anticipated that the Red Devils boss will bring in at least two players in January, with an addition at centre-back also on the agenda.”
Before the season began, Van Gaal was told by his medical staff that Jonny Evans, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling would have their ‘most available season to date’ but their injury problems have only got worse which has made it difficult for United.
What two players could potentially make their way to Old Trafford in January? Kevin Strootman is the player most likely to be linked with a move and the rumours have already started gathering pace.
As well as the Dutch midfielder, Atletico Madrid’s Diego Godin, Zenit St Petersburg’s Ezequiel Garay and Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels are three centre backs who should expect to be high on Van Gaal’s list of potential centre-back signings.
With the transfer window opening in just over ten days, it’s set to be an extremely busy few weeks for United and we’ll keep you up to date with all the latest news throughout the month.
