Tottenham vs Man Utd – Preview, team news and prediction

Unbeaten in eight games, Manchester United are back in top form in the Premier League after a horrendous season under David Moyes.

Coming into the Tottenham game off the back of a solid victory against Newcastle at Old Trafford, Van Gaal’s men are well on their way to achieving their primary goal- finishing in the top four and bringing Champions League football back to United.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men are also in good form having won their previous four games in all competitions. Both teams are probably in the best form of their respective seasons yet and this makes for an absolute crunch fixture at White Hart Lane.

Even though Tottenham have the upper hand coming into this fixture, having been unbeaten in the previous four meetings between the two teams, United are clearly stronger in terms of both form as well as the starting XI on paper.

Manchester United team news

Angel di Maria, Marouane Fellaini, Daley Blind and Ander Herrera are ruled out of today’s game but a host of players including Chris Smalling, Rafael and Luke Shaw could potentially return to the starting line-up.

Tottenham Hotspur team news

Pochettino will be glad to see Hugo Llrois back fit and he will start in goal. Jan Vertonghen will start in defence with Fazio. Kyle Walker has reestablished himself at right back after a long lay-off due to injury and his pace remains a valid threat. Danny Rose or Ben Davies will start on the left side of a back four.

Ryan Mason also returned to the team after coming on as a substitute against Leicester, and he could return to the starting eleven and will accompany Nabil Bentalab, in a young yet impressive midfield.  Erik Lamela and Christian Eriksen are Spur’s most creative players and a lot will be expected from them. Harry Kane will start in front of goal and he will be looking to continue his incredible performances for Spurs in front of goal.

Prediction

Expect a tough match here at White Hart Lane. Tottenham have produced their best performances away from home this season whereas Manchester United have produced their best at home. It promises to be an enthralling match up between two teams who have their eye on a top four finish. I’m obviously hoping for a United victory but it won’t be easy.
