As we prepare to celebrate New Year’s Eve and Manchester United prepare to face Stoke tomorrow, transfer talk continues as the opening of the window fast approaches.
Marco Reus is to reject a move to United, according to The Daily Star, as Real Madrid strike a deal with Borussia Dortmund for the supposed United target. Reus has long been linked with a move away from Dortmund and with the German side struggling for form, a move could be even more likely. The report states that a verbal agreement has been struck which will see the German star move to Madrid in the summer of 2015, disappointing United, Chelsea and Manchester City.
The Daily Star suggest that Martin Odegaard is set to snub a move to Manchester United in favour of a surprise move to Southampton. As reported by The Peoples Person, the Norwegian starlet was visiting United this week and it had been suggested United had made a formal offer for his services. However, according to reports in Norway, Odegaard is set to spurn the advances of clubs like United for the good of his career.
Seamus Coleman is a £20 million transfer target for United, as the look to sign a reliable right back, according to The Guardian. United right back Rafael has struggled for fitness since Louis Van Gaal took charge of the club, and when he has been fit questions have been raised over his reliability. This has led to suggestions that the United manager will look to strengthen in the right back position. The Peoples Person had previously reported on United’s supposed interest in Coleman only a couple of days ago. Coleman would likely be a popular option among United fans due to his age, Premier League experience and obvious talent. However, Rafael is a popular player among fans and many would be sad to see his long term future in question.
Reports from Spain suggest Radamel Falcao has passed more United medicals on his knee in recent days and Louis van Gaal has given the green light to complete his signing which would total £39m including the £6m paid for this year’s loan spell. Yesterday, there were reports from the British press placing Falcao’s move in doubt so there are different stories appearing almost daily about the Colombian’s future.
Atletico Madrid centre back Miranda could be on his way to United as Madrid prepare to let him go. Manchester Evening News has picked up on reports that Atletico are prepared to sell their £24m rated Brazilian centre back, this does seem unlikely though, as he features regularly for the reigning Spanish champions. United had been linked heavily with the signing of Miranda in the previous transfer window, but nothing came of the rumours. However, any renewed talk of Miranda leaving the Spanish capital is likely to draw links to United given the previous links and United’s need for defensive strengthening.
