Raphael Varane has emerged as a transfer target for Manchester United, this according to The Express. The report suggests that United have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Varane’s Real Madrid team mate Pepe, as he is set to extend his stay at the Bernabeu. With Sergio Ramos also set to stay with Real, Varane has supposedly been left questioning his future at the club. Varane would be a popular choice with United fans given his obvious class and quality at a young age. However, it could be deemed that he lacks the experience United require at this stage.
The Peoples Person have been covering United’s apparent interest in Everton’s Seamus Coleman, today the club are linked with another right back, as Rafael’s future at Old Trafford looks increasingly in doubt. Dani Alves has alerted United after deciding he won’t extend his contract at Barcelona, as reported by The Mirror. The Brazilian’s contract expires in six months and it is suggested that Louis Van Gaal could see Alves as the short term solution to United’s right back woes. Alves has been in poor form for Barcelona and has been the subject of criticism from the Spanish media, the right back’s best days are likely behind him and it is perhaps unlikely that Van Gaal would see a deal for the Brazilian as the best option.
Edinson Cavani could be on his way to Old Trafford, as the Uruguayan is backed to complete a reported £62 million deal to the Premier League in the summer of 2015. In June of 2014 it was reported that Cavani had an offer to join United, this did not materialise and Radamel Falcao eventually made the switch to Manchester. With Falcao scoring goals and likely to remain at United, a move for Cavani seems unlikely. With Zlatan Ibrahimovic getting older and PSG hoping to dominate in France, it would be reasonable to think they would prefer to hold on to Cavani.
Rumours of United’s interest in Gareth Bale has been persistent over the last few weeks, however, Bale is set to snub United and extend his stay in Madrid. According to The Daily Star, the supposed United and Chelsea target is set to extend his stay in the Spanish capital until 2021. Talk of Bale leaving Madrid has persisted yet the move could scarcely be less likely. He is young and has a knack for scoring in finals, Madrid will have no intention of letting the Welsh star leave any time soon.
Away from talk of arrivals, Nick Powell has returned to United from a period on loan at Leicester City and has been immediately linked with another loan move away from Old Trafford. A host of Championship clubs are interested in Powell, according to Graeme Bailey of Goal.com. Powell’s poor showing on his loan spells is unlikely to go unnoticed at Old Trafford, the fact that he was unable to secure a regular playing spot for Leicester will concern United. Given these issues, Powell’s long term future could lie away from United unless he turns things around soon
