Ron Vlaar injury rules out any potential Man Utd move

Aston Villa have confirmed Ron Vlaar will be sidelined for between four to six weeks after suffering a knee injury.

Manchester United’s interest in Vlaar cooled off in the last couple of weeks and this injury effectively rules out any move from Louis van Gaal as Vlaar would be unable to pass any medical examination.

United are keeping very tight lipped about any defensive transfer targets but the likes of Mats Hummels and Diego Godin are still continuing to be heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Although Vlaar may have been a good short-term addition (if fit) in terms of adding experience to a defence which has severely lacked it this season, there are other targets which are considered to be much better suited in the long-term.
