Want to see exciting, attacking football played by Man United on a beautiful Tuesday night, all for free?
You could do a lot worse than going to Old Trafford tonight for the U18s FA Youth Cup Fourth Round clash against Hull City.
As is the case every year, this current U18s side plays some attractive football that has been missed for years in the first team. We’ll have a quick look at their current squad situation, as well as who’re the names to look out for.
Man United team news
From those names that were unavailable for the Third Round tie which saw United beat Bury in a narrow 1-0 win, Demetri Mitchell could make a return. The winger/wide forward has been in sensational form for United’s academy side before his injury with five goals under his name after six starts. Considering the obvious lack of firepower in the U18s this season, Mitchell would be one of the first name in the team sheet if fit.
One of the important players who will hopefully make a come back is midfielder Jordan Thompson who has been recently been back in training after being sidelined for seven weeks. The chances that he will feature are quite low but the Northern Ireland U19s international would certainly improve our control in the midfield should he make an appearance.
Having just come back from injury recently, midfielder Scott McTominay is facing some stiff competitions from Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Devonte Redmond, Charlie Scott, as well as new signing Josh Doughty who will no doubt be in the squad once he has his international clearance. Scott would probably have to start the game from the bench but he could be an option to bring on if we seek for someone who can retain and reproduce possession.
Finally, midfielder Travis Johnson will probably have to watch his team-mates from the stand after not being in the squad for the last U18s match, likely due to another injury. His development in the last two years has been affected by loads of different injuries but hopefully we will see him coming back stronger in perhaps next season as he’s a very good dribbler who has the ability to change the game.
