Here is the round-up of the latest Manchester United transfer news and gossip.
Mats Hummels has refused to rule out leaving Borussia Dortmund. Hummels has continually been linked with a move to United since last summer and the rumours have intensified with the opening of the January transfer window.
Now, the German international has refused to rule out his departure from the struggling German club. If Hummels does leave Dortmund it will not be cheap and if United want to sign the powerful centre back they will have to be prepared to part with at least £30 million, if regular speculation is to be believed.
Hummels would appear as the ideal candidate for United as they search for a high quality, experienced centre back to lead their defence.
United have opened talks with PSG’s Marquinhos according to Le 10 Sport. The 20-year-old is considered one of the best young defenders in world football but finds himself competing with the defensive pair of Thiago Silva and David Luiz for a starting spot. United had previously been linked with a move for Marquinhos prior to his move to Paris.
Paulo Dybala is a target for Man United according to Palermo’s president. Dybala has caught the eye with his impressive goals and assists return this season, with Maurizio Zamparini insisting that the 21-year-old is much coveted among the top European clubs, including United. With the future of Radamel Falcao in doubt perhaps a June move for Dybala is not unlikely.
West Brom have enquired about the signing of Darren Fletcher. Fletcher has been part of United’s first team squad after recovering from his terrible ulcerative colitis condition but has not featured regularly in the starting XI.
When Fletcher has gained minutes on the pitch he has struggled for match pace and sharpness and it is now looking like he may leave Old Trafford. He is the longest serving United player at present having made his debut for the first team 12 years ago, but Tony Pulis is keen to add the Scotland captain to his side. As his 31st birthday approaches, Fletcher will likely give serious consideration to the chance of playing regular first-team football.
Adnan Januzaj is set to leave United on loan. Having taken over Ryan Giggs’ famous no. 11 shirt in the summer, Januzaj has struggled to make his way in to Van Gaal’s first team, regularly sitting on the bench and not getting much game time.
United have agreed a €1m deal to sell Angelo Henriquez to Dinamo Zagreb. Henriquez is currently on loan with the Croatian side. Dinamo manager Zoran Mamic has now confirmed that Henriquez will make a permanent switch to Zagreb in the summer with the club having agreed a fee for the front man. Henriquez has impressed with his goal scoring but has never really looked likely to break in to United’s first team plans.
