Man United loan watch: Nani scores, Zaha impresses but Hernandez benched

After a short hiatus, we’ll once again be bringing you a weekly round-up of how the on loan Manchester United players got on for their respective clubs.

Nani continued his impressive form for Sporting Lisbon, scoring and getting an assist as they defeated Rio Ave 4-2. It takes Nani’s overall tally to eight goals and six assists.

Javier Hernandez was an unused substitute as Real Madrid ran out 3-0 winners over Granada, despite a lacklustre performance from the Spanish giants in the first half.

Wilfried Zaha started for Crystal Palace as they staged an impressive comeback to defeat Burnley 3-2, having been trailing 2-0. Zaha impressed and looked dangerous with his pace. He played a key part in creating a goal for Dwight Gayle before being substituted after 70 minutes.

The form of Tom Cleverley has largely mirrored that of his loan club with another abject performance as Liverpool easily beat Aston Villa 2-0. Cleverley made no impact on the game prior to being withdrawn around the hour mark to make way for Andy Weimann. Aston Villa find themselves in trouble as they continue to struggle in front of goal, Cleverley has not scored in 20 games for the club, typifying the issues at the Birmingham club.

Sam Johnstone made his debut for Preston North End in their game against Leyton Orient. The game finished 2-2 and despite not losing the game, Johnstone will likely be unhappy to have shipped two goals.

Other loanees Ben Pearson and Angelo Henriquez were not in action for their respective clubs, whilst Reece James has returned to United from his loan spell with Rotherham.
