Here is today’s Manchester United transfer news and gossip.
Man United are stepping up their interest in Nathaniel Clyne say ESPN. The Southampton star has emerged as a key target for Louis van Gaal in his bed to strengthen United’s back line. Clyne has 18 months remaining on his contract and it was thought United may wait until the summer to try and land the 23-year-old. However, ESPN have indicated Van Gaal will do everything he can to bring the right back to Old Trafford this month.
Will Keane has joined Sheffield Wednesday on loan until the end of the season. The 22-year-old continues to work his way back to top form after a serious knee injury, with the rise of James Wilson preventing Keane from getting first team game time. The young striker could go straight in to Wednesday’s starting 11 for this weekend’s fixture. The loan spell will give Keane, who is highly thought of at Old Trafford, a chance to find his fitness and form whilst also showing his quality.
Kevin de Bruyne has emerged as a target for United. The Belgian international has been in inspired form since leaving Chelsea and joining Wolfsburg. After making only three league appearances for Chelsea and a host of loan spells, De Bruyne moved to Wolfsburg and has established himself as a star. The 23-year-old’s form has reportedly sparked Louis van Gaal‘s interest and United could look to bring the talented Belgian to Old Trafford.
United are interested in Dynamo Kiev’s Aleksandar Dragovic, say ESPN. United’s ever-growing list of defensive target now includes 23-year-old Austrian international Aleksandar Dragovic. Dragovic has been impressive since his move from Basel to Kiev and is a regular in the Austrian national team.
United have opened talks with Cerro Porteno star Sergio Diaz, according to reports in Italy. 16-year-old Diaz is making a real name for himself in Paraguay, leading to comparisons with Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero. Diaz is very young and is only at the beginning of his career but Van Gaal has shown a keenness to encourage youth and development at United and could look to bring Diaz to Old Trafford.
Real Madrid have confirmed the signing of United target Martin Odegaard. The Spanish giants have signed the Norwegian starlet, fending off interest from a host of other top European clubs. Odegaard visited United but the youngster has opted to make the switch to the Bernabeu.
Van Gaal has played down talk of Darren Fletcher leaving United this month. Fletcher has been continually linked with a move away from the club with West Ham, Valencia and West Brom all interested. Despite these reports, Van Gaal insisted: “He is a Manchester United player. He is one of my three captains.”
No clubs have enquired about signing Anderson, despite the United midfielder being on the transfer list all month. Anderson previously joined Fiorentina on loan and failed to impress, whilst he has failed to get near Van Gaal’s first-team plans. All roads point to Anderson departing for free at the expiration of his contract.
