Gary Neville has said that Darren Fletcher should be in no rush to leave Manchester United amid reports he is set to sign for West Bromwich Albion.
Fletcher has endured a difficult season at United and was given permission to leave the club on a free transfer but a move to West Ham United collapsed earlier in the week.
Although Valencia expressed an interest in the Scot earlier in the month, West Bromwich Albion have since emerged as the only team looking to secure his services.
“But with the injury to Michael Carrick for four weeks, maybe Fletcher will get some more football.
“I don’t think he’ll be in a rush to get out of United; he can wait until the summer and do it in his own time.”
Fletcher has dedicated his entire career to Man United but his performances have not been at the required level this season.
He simply won’t get a good amount of minutes on the pitch under Louis van Gaal so United fans will hope that the 30-year-old can seal a lucrative wage packet and more playing time elsewhere before he retires.
It will be sad to see him in another team’s colours, but it is the swan song Fletcher deserves following a distinguished career at Old Trafford.
