Robin van Persie leaves Swansea on crutches wearing protective boot

Robin van Persie left Swansea City’s stadium on crutches wearing a protective boot and has raised fresh concerns over what could be another injury for the Dutch striker.

Van Persie went down in the latter stages of the game clutching his ankle with a grimaced look on his face but was unable to be substituted because Louis van Gaal had already used all three of his.

Given that van Persie had only just returned from a knock, it is another setback in terms of his fitness.

Prior to his injury, van Persie was in poor form and his shooting was rusty as he wasted plenty of opportunities to find the back of the net.

Van Gaal didn’t confirm the extent of van Persie’s injury to the press after the game so fans will have to wait for an official statement either during the week or in next Friday’s pre-match press conference ahead of Sunderland.
