Nani scored a wonder goal in Sporting Lisbon’s 2-0 win over Gil Vicente. The talented Portuguese winger added another spectacular goal to his catalogue of top-drawer goals over the years before being substituted late in the game. This extends Nani’s impressive form for Sporting this season.
Will Keane was on the score-sheet again for Sheffield Wednesday as they slipped to a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Derby County. Keane was substituted on 72 minutes in what was a valiant effort from an improving Wednesday side.
Sam Johnstone completed 90 minutes and kept a clean sheet as Preston recorded a 2-0 victory over Scunthorpe. The win continues Preston’s pursuit of promotion from League One.
Ben Pearson completed the full 90 minutes as manager-less Barnsley registered a good 2-0 win over Crewe. Barnsley find themselves in a close battle towards the lower end of the table. This result brought them level on points with Crewe but with a game in hand.
Ben Amos came off the bench to play 25 minutes for Bolton in a resounding 4-1 defeat at the hands of Nottingham Forest. Amos came on with the scores at 2-1 and had to pick the ball out of his net twice during his cameo.
Angelo Henriquez completed played the full game as Dinamo Zagreb played out a 1-1 draw with Osijek. Henriquez was unable to continue his impressive goal scoring form and picked up a yellow card in the 82nd minute.
Guillermo Varela was on the score-sheet and completed 90 minutes as Real Madrid Castilla comfortably beat Barakaldo 4-0. Varela netted in the 40th minute as the Castilla secure their position at the top of the Segunda B league table.
Javier Hernandez and Tom Cleverley’s woes continued as both remained unused substitutes for Real Madrid and Aston Villa. Saidy Janko and Joe Rothwell were also unused substitutes at the weekend for Bolton and Blackpool respectively.
